Biden’s tough-guy flexing at ‘soulless killer’ Putin would be funny if the consequences weren’t so serious

Joe Biden’s effort to label Vladimir Putin as a “soulless killer” is the latest in a series of fact-free allegations that define US-Russian relations today. The real aim is to make Biden look like the strong leader he isn’t.

Former President Donald Trump was fond of bragging about how tough he was when it came to Russia. “There’s never been a president as tough on Russia as I have been,” Trump crowed in 2018. He wasn’t wrong—according to Daniel Vajdich, a senior analyst with the Atlantic Council, the Trump administration was “much tougher on Russia than any in the post-Cold War era.” Despite the tough reality of his Russian policy, however, Trump was not opposed to bettering relations, publicly proclaiming that “it would be great if we could get along with Russia.”

As for his relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Trump has noted that “I like Putin, he likes me.” Indeed, Marina Gross, the State Department interpreter who worked on many of the calls between Trump and Putin, has reportedly said that “listening to their conversations often felt like eavesdropping on two friends chatting in a bar.” Indeed, Trump famously bristled at Fox’s Bill O’Reilly, who said of the Russian president, “Putin’s a killer.”  Trump responded, “There are a lot of killers. We’ve got a lot of killers. What, do you think our country’s so innocent?”

President Biden has made it clear that he plans to deal with Russia in a far more aggressive manner than his predecessor. Moreover, there would be no more talk about “friendship” or “getting along.” In a recent interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos, Biden was given a bite from the same apple O’Reilly had offered Trump. “So, you know Vladimir Putin,” Stephanopoulos asked. “You think he’s a killer?” Without a moment’s hesitation, Biden responded, “Mmm-hmm, I do.”

Tall tales to stand out

To anyone who has followed the career of Joe Biden, this reply does not signify anything other than crass political opportunism, a chance to swing away at a softball question deliberately tossed out to allow the president to create the perception of separation between himself and the policies and postures of his predecessor. Biden’s negative opinion of Russia under Putin is well established, perhaps best articulated by Dmitri Trenin, the director of the Carnegie Endowment’s Moscow Center, as “a country in enormous decline, an oil-based economy and a second-rate military power, unable to compete with the West and saddled with depressive demographics and a kleptocratic regime run by KGB thugs.”

Any student of Russia would understand that Biden’s perception misses the mark – widely. But any attempt to try to bridge the gulf between reality and Biden’s perception of things is an exercise in futility. Biden has never been about the facts, but rather about how he can twist the facts in a manner that sustains his greatest passion: self-promotion. This became apparent during the ABC interview, when Biden repeated his 2014 claim, made to the New Yorker, regarding a meeting he had with Putin at the Kremlin during a March 2011 visit. According to Biden, he was alone with Putin in his office, where he brought up the topic of Putin’s lack of a human soul. “I said, ‘I looked in your eyes and I don’t think you have a soul,’” Biden told Stephanopoulos, “and he [Putin] looked back and said, ‘We understand each other.’” (The New Yorker story differed only in that Biden claimed Putin smiled when responding.)

Biden’s storytelling served a purpose. “The most important thing when dealing with foreign leaders,” he told Stephanopoulos, “is just to know the other guy.” Here, Biden was trying to distinguish himself from another American president, George W. Bush, who famously said of his initial meeting with Putin, back in June 2001, that “I looked the man in the eye. I found him to be very straightforward and trustworthy,” adding “I was able to get a sense of his soul.”

There is another difference between the statement made by Bush, and that offered up by Biden, regarding their respective meetings with Vladimir Putin. Bush’s was part of the public record, Biden’s was not. Indeed, the likelihood of the Biden-Putin meeting occurring as described by Joe Biden is slim to none. When Biden made his trip to the Kremlin in 2011, he was fronting for the Obama administration’s “reset” with Russia. There was no opportunity, or need, for Biden’s faux machismo. The two men did meet, but as part of delegations discussing the possibility for improving relations. Not only would Biden’s insulting verbal flexing have been wildly inappropriate and inconsistent with the larger policy objectives of his visit, but it ran counter to his own feelings, expressed at the time, about Russia. “Russia has the best engineers in the world,” Biden said in a press conference after his meeting with Putin (who was serving as Russia’s prime minister, not president, at the time.) “Russia has intellectual capital. Russia is a great nation.” These are not words one utters after telling a Russian leader in private that he has “no soul.”

Evidence need not apply

Biden’s struggle with the truth is well known, so it should come as no surprise to anyone that he possibly made up a meeting with Putin. Biden has been caught plagiarizing a speech delivered by former British Labour Party leader Neil Kinnock, lied about his academic record and accomplishments, and manufactured from whole cloth a narrative that has him participating in the civil rights movement of the 1960s. Biden’s lies all have one goal in common: to make him out to be that which he is not. So, too, his apparent lie about calling Putin soulless. Biden is desperate to be a ‘tough guy’. But for that reputation to stick vis-à-vis Putin, there had to be a ‘showdown’ moment, where the good guy faced off against the bad guy and called him out. Since no such event exists, Biden had to make one up. And, like most of his lies, Biden repeats them long enough and often enough that they take on a life of their own, embraced as fact by unquestioning journalists.

The present need for the 78-year-old American president to be flexing on the issue of Russia is driven by the conclusions of a report released by the director of national intelligence (DNI), which assesses that Russia interfered in the 2020 US presidential election. “Russian President Putin authorized,” the report noted, “and a range of Russian government organizations conducted, influence operations aimed at denigrating President Biden’s candidacy and the Democratic Party, supporting former President Trump, undermining public confidence in the electoral process, and exacerbating sociopolitical divisions in the US.” The report homed in on the role played by Ukrainian “proxies,” in particular Andrii Derkach, accused by the US of being a Russian agent. According to the DNI report, Russian intelligence services used Derkach and others to help spread an anti-Biden narrative while giving Moscow “plausible deniability.”

For its part, the Russian government has denied the allegations, describing them as “another set of groundless accusations against our country of interfering in American internal political processes,” and noting that the report was based “solely [on] the confidence of the intelligence services of their self-righteousness,” and that “no facts or specific evidence of such claims were provided.” The allegations outlined in the report cover no new ground, and represent the ideological extension of similar claims dating back to the 2016 US presidential election, when the US intelligence community published an assessment on the role played by RT in influencing American public opinion that predated the events in question.

Worst superhero ever

It does not matter that the DNI assessment serves as a slap in the face to every free-thinking American, carrying the connotation that the average citizen is easily swayed by the opinions of outsiders. The notion that the Russian government, acting directly or via proxy, could be more skilled in manipulating US voter opinions than the armies of seasoned political operatives who spend hundreds of millions of dollars in pursuit of a similar outcome is not only laughable, but deeply insulting. Again, what is important here are not the facts attached to this claim, but rather the perception-based narrative being painted by President Biden. On January 26 of this year, Biden made his initial phone call to Vladimir Putin. According to a White House statement released afterwards, “President Biden made clear that the United States will act firmly in defense of its national interests in response to actions by Russia that harm us or our allies,” noting that among the specific issues raised by Biden was the issue of 2020 election interference by Russia.

In his interview with Stephanopoulos, Biden raised the findings of the DNI report, and his conversation with Putin. “He will pay a price. We had a long talk, he and I. I know him relatively well and the conversation started off [like this]: I said, ‘I know you and you know me. If I establish this occurred, then be prepared.’”

Biden does not know Putin well at all. If he did, he would know that the last thing that would give the Russian leader pause were the fanciful tough-guy posturing of a geriatric president. There is little doubt that the Biden administration will impose additional sanctions against Russia in the days and weeks to come, citing the report as justification. There is also little doubt that these sanctions will have no impact whatsoever on the policies and practices of the Russian government. But that is not the point. Biden is not flexing for the benefit of Putin. His audience is the American people, and part and parcel of a coordinated campaign designed to drive home his mantra that “America is back.”

The fact that Biden’s posturing is all fluff and no substance is beside the point. His words and visage will be disseminated across the width and breadth of the American media establishment, helping cement as fact yet another chapter in the ongoing work of fiction that defines the US’ newest superhero, Joe Biden. This would be comical if the potential consequences of Biden’s actions were not so serious. In a world where Russian and American nuclear weapons are but one push of a button away from ending life as we know it, perhaps playing the tough guy is not the best look.

  1. Aviso, I notice that you believe St. Tarcisius is the martyr of the Eucharist whose original feast day is unknown. The Miracle is to take place on a Thursday in April between the 8th & 16th. Therefore, it is possible that April 13th, which is also the feast of Hermengild, another martyr of the Eucharist relevant to Spain, could also be the unknown feast day of Tarcisius.

  2. Will the Pope visit Russia before the Warning? The article linked below from the Catholic Herald states that Francis would welcome an invitation to visit Russia. Francis met with the Patriarch of Moscow in 2016 in Cuba. He also met with Putin at the Vatican in 2013, 2015 and 2019 and Putin showed up late for these meetings. Francis visited other Orthodox countries (Romania, Bulgaria and North Macedonia) and has a cordial relationship with the Patriarch of Constantinople. There is tension between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Patriarch of Constantinople. There is also tension between Russia and the Catholic Church in Ukraine. With these obstacles in mind, how realistic is it to expect that Putin will invite the Pope to visit Russia, especially now that the conflict between Russia and Ukraine appears on the verge of exploding?

It is not so much about Russia’s strength but the weakness of the rest of the world at that time.

The situation in Eastern Ukraine is threatening to blow up into all out war. If war breaks out between Russia and Ukraine this could easily escalate into a Nato versus Russia war.   8. Aviso, Conchita was asked if soldiers would be deployed in Garabandal at the time of the Miracle but she did not answer the question. She also reportedly said that only a few people would be present in Garabandal on the day of the Miracle. In addition, the third secret of Fatima depicts martyrdom of the Pope as well as priests, religious and faithful. Sr Elena Aiello’s prophecies state that Italy will be overrun by Russia. What type of singular event in the Church will occur on the day of the Miracle if Churches are closed and priests in hiding? How is Conchita going to disseminate announcement of the Miracle if things are at their worst at the time of the Warning?

    • Cathy I’d suggest that “at their worst..” means at their worst spiritually AND in the bridegroom of Christ – His Church.
      That may or may not coincide with things in the world being ‘at their worst’, as we sinners understand things.

    • Hi Cathy, the singular event is related to Rome (Vatican) not to local churches, this event, probably a conclave or a new dogma related to our Lady will then affect all churches, this is the meaning, so Churches closed or not it is not important as Rome decide and the rest (church) follows.
      About Conchita and her announcement, she said that she will need a miracle for help, years ago she said that she will use Joe Lomangino for it, we know the rest, probably the Warning will be that help she is hoping, de facto the Warning should be close to her announcement or the same day or a bit before the Great Miracle, if it is not the case like a warning for example 6 months before the Great Miracle day then most of us will know the Great Miracle Day before any announcement so this is the only plausible explanation, in other words the Warning is already and probably the announcement itself.

On the subject of the singular event in the Church on the day of the Miracle, in 1959 Blessed Sr Elena Aiello predicted that Italy will be invaded by Russia. During an interview in 1979 Jacinta was asked if she recalled anything about a great tribulation, communism or Russia. He says he does not know where this comes from or why people say this but it does not come from Garabandal….July 3, 1963 is the day that John XXIII died and Conchita said to her mother,…there are only 3 Popes left, that is what Our Lady told me. And her Mother reacted saying do you mean the end of the world is coming because if there are no more Popes it must be the end of the world. But Our Lady didn’t say the end of the world, she said the End Times…..Fr. Saavedra then explains that End Times means the End of an Era…….Fr goes on to explain the prophecy of the 3 Popes after John XXIII…..and how Benedict XVI and Pope Francis fit into this End of Era/Beginning of New Era.

    • Hi Cathy, this I believe is the correct interpretation, and without going to my books for exactness I do recall the Spanish term used by Conchita means ‘end of an epoch.’ The English plural is used as another translation as in ‘Times’ not Time, which in the singular suggests finality.

      It is this literal interpretation ‘end of times or epoch’ in the context of other private revelation and Scripture that informs my view regarding our ‘time’ not being that of the Anti-Christ which is the end of time. This prophesy of the three Popes in light of the current Papacy, the crisis in the Church, of faith, and in worldly affairs leads to only one conclusion…,

        Current geopolitical maneuvers between nuclear superpowers indicates that we are heading to another world war.
        Mari Loli reportedly said that Churches would be closed, the Church would be on the point of disappearing and priests would be in hiding when the Warning occurs. The prophecies of Garabandal predict the defeat of this persecution with the Warning, Miracle and Chastisement. After this comes the Era of Peace/New Era/Triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary promised by Our Lady of Fatima.

        • Cathy, i believe this is accurate, this statement “Churches would be closed, the Church would be on the point of disappearing and priests would be in hiding when the Warning occurs”, will come after the begining of pain, that is, aww3 and post war, pact of many, false prophet and rise of the antichrist. Aviso, Milagro y Tres días de tinieblas will end it.
          This is what i believe, we´ll see if it is so, sooner than later i´m afraid.

      My maths is not upper class but it seems to me if one counts 1260 days from the abomination that adorned the main altar in St Peter’s in October 2019 at the ‘Amazon Synod’, the end result is Easter 2023 and 13 April 2023 is a Thursday within the Octave of that Easter. And further that 13 April 2023 is 1260 days after the days of blasphemy that Francis appeared to instigate at his synod! That is the feast day for St Hermenegild, one of the Blessed Eucharist’s great saints!
      I think it has been said the miracle predicted at Garabandal will not happen during an odd numbered year. Certainly the research and analysis by others on this site is far better informed and more extensive than anything I am capable of but as a matter of interest these calculations made sense to me.
      And lately, before this came to me, I have been thinking followers on this site are probably akin to those, Our Lord talked about in his parable, regarding the 10 virgins with oil for their lamps awaiting the arrival of the bridegroom.
      Could it be that we parallel the 5 wise virgins and that Garabandal is a means for us to maintain readiness for what is clearly getting very close?
      Irrespective we all know Our Lady requires us to constantly pray and do penance so let’s not let her down and there is no doubt she will NOT let us down.

        • Aviso, thanks for the info about odd year versus even year for the Warning. I believe the Warning, Miracle and Chastisement will be in the same year. First of all, Mari Loli said that Churches will be closed and priests in hiding when the Warning comes. Conchita said the Virgin told her that before the Miracle, God will be sending us a Warning so as to purify us or prepare us to see the Miracle. So, the Warning is a preparation for the Miracle. And, Conchita will announce the Miracle eight days before. So, it is possible that the Warning might occur after Conchita’s announcement. And, the Chastisement is to cleanse the earth of evil before the dawn of the Era of Peace. If the Warning prepares us for the Miracle why would there be a long period of time between these two events? It makes sense they would be close in time. If the Warning and Miracle fails to convert you, what else will? It also seems logical therefore that the time between the Miracle and Chastisement would be short. Some have suggested that the Chastisement of Garabandal is the Three Days of Darkness predicted by many mystics and I think this is correct.

    • That was a very wise move by President Putin and his Government. The Kiev government (incited by the dark forces of the Biden Regime) have recently been doing aggressive and threatening military moves in the east. It would only have been inviting trouble, if Putin did not make a matching response.

      But it is not all good news in Russia either. Unfortunately President Putin does not have full control. Recently a complete globalist got the job of Prime Minister. Putin had to pretend that the appointment was his decision. That Prime Minister had previously put in a system where every transaction in all of Russia is instantly monitored by the state. That has so many similarities with events in The West and in China – i.e. preparation for the “Beast System” as described by Saint John in the Book of Revelation.

We will then witness the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart over Communism, Freemasonry, Modernism, Materialism and Liberalism, the Serpent’s head will be crushed, there will be peace and the Church will be revitalised from its’ ruins by the remnant that endured.

        • Yes Pete. We shall see. But not necessarily in this life, as many of us may not survive the first batch of troubles. Like you, I have great hopes that a considerable portion of the present exceptionally high number of human souls on earth, may save their souls, after the conversion of Russia. Could it be as high as 50% ? ? – I don’t know, but that would indeed be wonderful compared to the present situation, considering that Our Lady told the children at Garabandal that “Very Few See God.”

          FEAR
          We are often told to Fear Not! We are even told that Angels have on many occasions greeted people in that way – Fear Not! – That is really only telling us not to fear them, the Angels. And that is of course true, as Messenger Angels do not cause harm. Yet it may be a different matter with the Punishing Angels, described in Revelation.
          But in both Fatima and Garabandal, Our Lady very definitely used Fear as a medicine to get us to change our ways.
          In Fatima She showed the children a vision of Hell and the children were utterly terrified and would have remained so, had Our Lady not already told them that She would take them to Heaven.
          Likewise in Garabandal, Our Lady also applied the medicine of Fear. She showed the children terrifying visions of the future during the “Noches De Los Gritos” (nights of the screams). That fear was not just meant for the children. It was first meant for the clergy – but they chose to ignore it. It was also meant for us. It was our obligation to enquire from the children, what is it that they saw that is so fearful, and it is our duty to ponder it, and then to act.
          Admittedly there is False-Fear also. We have plenty of that at present with vast numbers believing their governments and media that we ought to be so afraid of viruses, that we allow our leaders to bind us in this fear-justified tyranny. (Although it is possible that real fear of the vax may be appropriate).

          PERIOD OF PEACE
          Nearly all of us on this website share the view that the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart, will lead to: “God Will Grant The World A Period Of Peace”. I too have great hopes for that period of peace. We know that God is casting His Net very wide for the saving of souls. During the Pontificate of Pope Leo XIII, Our Lord told a German nun to tell Pope Leo to consecrate THE ENTIRE HUMAN RACE to His Sacred Heart. This request horrified the theologians in the Vatican with their views of exclusivity, so they messed up the consecration prayer for the Pope. Yet Pope Leo implemented the consecration and the theologians were unable to mess up the Wonderful Encyclical that he issued in conjunction with it. As evidence that the request was truly from God, the body of the nun in question, is still incorrupt where she died in Portugal.

          IN THE END – – TRIUMPH (followed by CHASTISEMENT)
          It is understandable that Fr Nicholas Gruner was quite single-minded in his quest for the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart. It is harmless that he had a utopian vision of what would happen after the Consecration. His life’s task (which he carried out most faithfully) was, to be a thorn in the side of the Popes, Cardinals and Bishops, warning them of their duty to obey and carry out the Consecration. The fact that they disobeyed is not his fault. It is they who will suffer the consequences.
          But that is no excuse for us to make the same mistake of utopianism. Yes, Our Lady did say “In The End My Immaculate Heart Will Triumph” but that was in a very specific context. Several writers, theologians and prelates wrote much fanciful and flowery nonsense interpreting Her Words.
          We have had a previous example of this in the 1930s when Canon Formigao did the work of the devil (perhaps unknowingly) by changing the words of the “Fatima Prayer” which is said after each decade of the Rosary. It was wrong and presumptious to “CORRECT” the words of Our Lady. Her words were perfect, but the error from Fr Formigao’s change has had a hypnotic effect on millions of people saying the Rosary. It introduced a small error into our understanding of the Nature of God and of our nature also. This same error has been amplified in later decades by Masonic Cardinals and Masonic Theologians. And it was even further amplified by the canonisation of “saints of darkness”.
          So likewise we would now be wrong to add meanings to Our Lady’s words about the “TRIUMPH”. She spoke the Words in a specific context. If we chose to add meanings to them, that is our doing. It is not Her’s.
          Personally I have hopes that the combination of the Consecration and of the Aviso may see great improvements in humanity. Most importantly it may lead to the salvation of a vast number of souls who will die during the “period of peace”. It’s too big a subject to address in this post, and anyway it would only be speculation – although still worthwhile. Yet I still expect the Chastisement to follow – let’s say 15 years later, as that is the number of years it took after World War 2, for evil forces to again get control of nearly all of the world’s organisations.

          But after the Chastisement, there are grounds for expecting a much better spiritual state of humanity for a long time. The new situation would not be conducive to control, with a much reduced population and difficult travel and communication, together with less time for leisure activities. Perhaps there might also be a thousand small new countries.

          • Thank you Patrick, quite right, we should do our best to avoid adding meaning through speculation to words given us by Heaven. Its good that we reflect on these words of private revelation, as we all do here and share our reflections by way of encouraging one another, and by way of trying to understand meaning for us individually and collectively, much of course is of ‘mystery.’

            God Chastises those He loves, is very much a Scriptural theme, and we should be afraid of such chastisements whether admonitions or physical events. ‘Fear’ / ‘fear not’, is used in a number of contexts as in fear of God i.e. ‘respect for God’ etc.
